We Are All Mud People: Why Your Inner Soil Holds the Secret to Your Health

We are all mud people
We are all mud people

Have you ever stood in a garden or walked through a freshly harvested field, looked down at the dark, rich earth, and felt a strange sense of coming home?

There’s a beautiful reason for that. We are all mud people.

Think about it for a second. We come from the mud. Every single thing we eat—the crisp carrots, the leafy greens, the nourishing grains—grows directly from the mud. The earth feeds us, shapes us, and sustains us. So it only makes sense that to truly grow, heal, and evolve as human beings, we need good soil. Not just out there in the fields of Dorset, but inside our own bodies.

As a Lensomy Lifestylist, my entire philosophy is built on a simple truth: we are not separate from nature. We are nature.

Every single living soul is made up of the same five sacred elements: Space, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. And just like the land at Modbury Farm, your unique blend of these elements creates your own personal "inner terrain."

When our inner soil is balanced, we thrive. When it’s neglected, we experience the human equivalent of a drought or a flood—bloating, fatigue, anxiety, and burnout.

So, let me ask you: What kind of soil are you running on?

The Three Inner Soil Profiles

In my work, I’ve realized that human bodies generally fall into three distinct types of earth. See which one of these sounds like you:

1. Sandy & Windblown Soil (The Light Profile)

Driven by the elements of Space & Air, this profile is like a beautiful, sweeping sand dune.

  • The Vibe: You are quick-moving, highly creative, enthusiastic, and full of bright ideas.

  • The Signs of Imbalance: When life gets stressful, the wind picks up. Your mind starts racing, you get anxious, your skin feels dry, and your digestion gets erratic or bloated. Like sand, nutrients and water can pass right through you too quickly without sticking.

  • What You Need: You need "binding," warmth, gentle routine, and grounding nourishment to keep your soil rich and fertile.

2. Loamy & Volcanic Soil (The Fiery Profile)

Driven by the elements of Fire & Water, this profile is pure, dynamic energy.

  • The Vibe: You are focused, passionate, organized, and an absolute force of nature when you want to get things done.

  • The Signs of Imbalance: Because you have a roaring inner furnace, you run hot. When you are out of alignment, you become overly "acidic"—getting easily irritated, suffering from heartburn, or burning yourself out from overworking.

  • What You Need: You need cooling elements, sweetness, and a safe space to vent your steam so you don't scorch your own roots.

3. Clay & Deep Mud Soil (The Heavy Profile)

Driven by the elements of Earth & Water, this profile is the ultimate foundation.

  • The Vibe: You are calm, deeply loving, loyal, and incredibly stable. You are the rock people lean on.

  • The Signs of Imbalance: Your system is naturally holding. When things go out of balance, that thick clay can become heavy and stagnant. You might find your metabolism slowing right down, feel incredibly sluggish in damp weather, or find it hard to motivate yourself to move.

  • What You Need: You need aeration, warmth, spicy inputs, and dynamic movement to keep your inner waters flowing beautifully.
